I have an ibook g4 and want to make a simple but really nice looking website mainly marketing myself as a freelance writer. Would like to add flash to my site. I know very little about code but wanted to know if Wordpress is good for creating a site. I've messed around with WP someHow good is Wordpress for creating a website on a mac?
Well, since your computer has been running a bit slow these days, I think that's the only problem you'll have with WordPress as it's a big slow at times. Other than that, it will be no different than building any other website. As far as flash is concerned, you would just embed it into your site. If you know nothing about flash and just know that you want it on your site, I would just hire a programmer to do that. How good is Wordpress for creating a website on a mac?
Wordpress:
';WordPress is a blog publishing system written in PHP and backed by a MySQL database.'; --Wikipedia
It all depends on how 'code' driven you want to be. iWeb for the new iLife has many improvements and supports so much more then what came with your Mac.
I have been running the new iLife - iWeb on my Mac Book Titainium G4 700mhz and it is a bit slow at times but it works just fine in the long run. Word of caution although iWeb now lets you drop in code it can be tricky. Dropping in flash objects is simple, just drop the code in.
Anyways if you just want to create sites and quickly iWeb is great and you don't have to configure the server/host to have the WordPress installed/configured.
I hope this helps.
